Mary's Chrustly

1 cup flour
1 Tbs butter - softened
2 Tbs sugar
pinch salt
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 egg

Combine all ingredients. Transfer to floured board. Knead 5 minutes. Roll out very thin. Cut into 4" long strips. Tie some. For others - with a knife, make a slit down the middle of each rectangle and tie by inserting each end into the slit. Fry in hot oil 3 minutes or until golden. Drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
